Cousin and I took a chainsaw to my old boat (he's the muscle and I'm the brains), and pulled it inside the cabin for an entertainment center.

2023 Easter at the Cottage - Days 2 and 3
Переглядів 431Рік тому
Didn't she blow! We could barely see across the Pond most of Friday and Saturday - but the fire was hot and we had lots of food and games to keep us busy. Had to go out for wood and water, of course. Good to have company for these weekends.

We loaded up two skidoos and went to the off-grid cottage for three awesome nights. Sully and I went in the day before, and Dawn and the little guy came in on Thursday. Great night before a wind storm moved in for a few days - the scenery where we cut wood was too good not to share.

Out for a fish with the b'ys. Beauty day, but bumpy going and hard to record while driving the Indy Lite! (Uploaded in 4K).

Hauling more wood
Переглядів 1 тис.Рік тому
10 straight days of hauling wood so far. Still stiff as a board, but starting to settle into it now. No video of tree falling yet, because winds have been up and you just don't know what way they're going to fall, or everything is getting caught up in the tops. Messy out there!
Assembling a Chandelier without Instructions
Переглядів 361Рік тому
(While the Baymen's Away... haha) Dawn here. Happy International Women's Day! I've had this chandelier for a few years and finally took it out to assemble - no instructions... *facepalm* Gah! So, I recorded my attempt to put it together, in hopes that it would help someone else. Enjoy! (Stay tuned for Part 2).
Fixing the trail and setting snares

This is not breaking news - but I am good at breaking skidoos... ffs. First day of cutting completed and did some carnage to the little 340. Oops. Can't predict what's going to happen in the woods. Shit happens.
Cutting a wood trail in Western Newfoundland

Up in the woods to break in a trail and start hauling wood. Awesome stuff- I could probably cut here for the winter. This was filmed before a heavy rain and then a deep freeze (-25 for about a week). More updates to come!
Winter weekend at the cabin and build update

I know you've all been waiting for an update on the cabin build, well - here it is! We took off to the lake for a weekend trip and filmed a 360 degree view of the build so far. She's getting more comfortable all the time. Lots of work done, but lots still to do. Thanks for coming along!

We went for a trout on the ole' 340. Beautiful day to start, but she turned on us around 3pm and after a trout and a few nibbles, we decided to haul arse out of the wind and header back home. Another awesome opening day.

Could also run a threaded rod through the scissor jack. I have one strong enough to lift my house!! Then you simply need either a motor or an impact drill to turn the jack with.

Your missus should be splitting wood too so that she can keep warm in the freezing cold temps lol, I'm sure a tripod could handle the camera work & if you had one of those electric rotators for the camera so you can pan & scan hands free.

Excellent skills there. Just discovered my 3 x Gt Grandfather ; John Penn, was a Master Wheelwright, from the 1830s to 1850s , listed in 1837 as Excavating Barrow Maker. In Shadwell near the docks East London. Good to try and understand what he was making.
